Dillard-Jones Builders Goes Greener With Construction Waste Recycling Program
|
GREENVILLE, SC – Dillard-JonesBuilders, LLC has strengthened its commitment to green building with a program to recycle approximately 85 percent of construction waste from its job sites. Working in partnership with S.H. Carter Development Inc., Dillard-Jones Builders now is recycling construction waste such as brick, sheet rock, wood framing, pallets, metal, cardboard, concrete and asphalt rather than sending those items to the landfill. Additionally, crushed concrete is reused for driveways while a home is under construction, and wood is double ground and used for mulch once a home is completed. “We have concentrated heavily on greener products and building standards for our homes, and a recycling program for construction waste is a perfect way to further reduce building impact on the environment,” said Thomas Dillard, founder and president of Dillard-Jones Builders, LLC. “We believe it’s a smart green practice, and our homeowners really appreciate it.” Dillard-Jones Builders has long used green building products and techniques such as Low-E windows, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and low-impact site development. In May 2008, the company adopted ENERGY STAR® standards for all of its new home construction and presently is building EarthCraft House™ and Certified Green Professional homes. Dillard earned the Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation from the National Association of Home Builders in 2009. Established in 2004, Dillard-Jones Builders specializes in custom residential construction ranging from the$500,000’s to more than $2 million. The company became a member of Southern Living Custom Builder Program in 2005, and in 2009 was named the Southern Living Custom Builder Member of the Year - the first South Carolina homebuilder to win the award. |
